Winking and Expletives a Part of Criders’ First Court Appearance

The Adams County Courthouse was the scene this morning for the first court appearance of Stefan Crider, Jr. and Julia Crider, the father and step-mother of the man accused of murdering 12-year-old Rayshone Humphrey Jr., and it was not without an incident.

Both were advised of the charges against them by Chief Judge Diane Lagoski, which included four counts each of conspiracy to obstruct justice. Meanwhile, murder suspect  Steson Crider is being held in an Arizona awaiting extradition after being arrested in Mesa, Arizona by U.S. Marshals.

It was revealed at the hearing that the father and step-mother are accused of assisting Steson Crider and Stefan Crider III in leaving Illinois by providing money and a vehicle.  Stefan Crider III, who is wanted on obstruction charges, is still at large.

The parents of Rayshone Humphrey, Jr. were in the packed courtroom. Both KHQA and WGEM are reporting that Stefan Crider, Jr. winked to the mother of Humphrey Jr. and mouthed expletives to her as well.

The Criders, using public defenders for the hearing, are scheduled to make another appearance in court with Julia Crider scheduled back in court May 19 and Stefan Crider, Jr. scheduled  back in court on May 20.
