The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for most of the area from midnight Thursday night until noon Friday.

Specifically, the advisory affects Adams, Brown and Pike counties in Illinois and the Missouri counties of Audrain, Knox, Lewis, Marion, Monroe, Pike, Ralls and Shelby.

Forecasters expect wind chills Thursday night and Friday morning to fall to as low as 20 degrees below zero.

Officials advise that sub-zero wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

Bitter cold temperatures are predicted to stay around northeast Missouri and western Illinois at least through the end of next week.
