It was a month and a half ago that I shared the news that there was a new crime ranking in Illinois that did not have Chicago at the top of it. That one came courtesy of Property Club. Now, there's another. A-Z Animals has just issued their 6 most dangerous cities in Illinois and the same culprit not named Chicago sits at the top.

What is the confirmed champion of being riddled with crime and danger in Illinois?

What's wrong with Danville, Illinois? They say it has a crime rate that is 213% higher than the state average where "there is a 1 in 17 chance of becoming a crime victim".

Other than Chicago, what other Illinois cities made this new 6 most dangerous list? A-Z Animals says "Peoria, Springfield, Rockford, and Champaign" rounded out their awful 6.

Every single ranking I've seen for the 2nd half of 2023 names Danville as the most likely place to be a victim of crime in Illinois without exception.

How in the world can Danville be more dangerous than Chicago? It's purely a "per capita" issue where there are only 30,000 residents making each crime that much more impactful. Sad to think that you're less likely to have a problem with being assaulted in Chicago than a relatively small town like Danville.
