I am way behind on this, as usual, but pickleball is growing in Quincy. I am always interested in new things, but pickleball? I had no idea. So I went to find out more about pickleball from the Quincy Park District. I got on their website and after a few clicks, there it was. Pickleball.

The basics of pickle is that it is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. You can play both indoors and outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net. And you can play with a paddle and a plastic ball. Pickleball is growing with estimates of over 100,000 active pickleball players.

I did not know that the Quincy Park District had completed renovations to the Berrian Park tennis courts, converting them into four pickle courts. You can pickup pickleball with pickleball clinics Mondays through Thursdays at 830 a.m. You can pickup a game of pickleball Mondays to Thursdays 8 to 10 a.m.

If you would like, you may call the Park District at 217-223-7703 or go online at www.quincyparkdistrict.com to learn more about pickleball in Quincy.

Get on board with the pickle people and try a game of pickleball!
