This year's 8th Annual Veteran's Day Parade will be held in Quincy on Saturday, November 7 at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at 12th and Maine and proceed to 5th and Maine Streets.

The purpose is to honor all Veterans from all wars as well as those presently serving in the Armed Forces. For those Veteran's who are unable to view the parade that morning a second parade will assemble at the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy at 1 p.m. to allow the residents of the home a chance to see it as well.

Eight years ago the original parade organizers, Dick McKinney and Jim Ponsot (pictured above), were worried that they weren't going to get enough entries for the inaugural parade. Boy, how that has changed. Last year there were 94 entries in the Veteran's parade and organizers are shooting for 100 this year. There is no cost to enter the parade but donations are being accepted to offset the cost of the event.

To enter, contact Dick McKinney at 430-2912, Luke Doellman at 617-3152 or Rob Snyder at 885-3078.
