In what will be considered one of the toughest gut wrenching losses ever registered, the United States Women's Hockey team lost to Canada 3 to 2 in the Gold medal game in Russia. The United States women's hockey team was 3 minutes and 26 seconds and one goal post away from winning the Gold medal in Russia today but had to settle for Silver instead.

The US opened up a two goal lead and lead 2 to nothing with just 3:26 left in regulation before the Canadians scored to close the gap to one.  Then with Canada pulling their goaltender to add an extra skater the US went to seal it up by launching a long shot at the open net only to have it bank off the post. The Canadian women then came down the ice and tied it at 2 with just 55 seconds left.

On to overtime both teams went with Canada scoring a game and gold medal winning power play goal at 8:10 of overtime.
