Quincy Community Theatre will be bringing the classic story Treasure Island to life on their stage in October, and they're looking for a few good (bad?) pirates! Auditions will take place August 31 and September 1, and actors and actresses of all ages are being sought. This will be a lot of fun, and it's a great opportunity, especially for young actors, to get on stage in Quincy!

Roles are still available for the theatrical adventure of a lifetime—Quincy Community Theatre’s production of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic TREASURE ISLAND. Auditions are August 31 and September 1 by appointment, open to men, women, girls, and boys GRADES 3-ADULT.

Director of Student Theatre Kelsey Celek is looking for a cast of roughly 15-25 to bring this thrilling tale to life. Featuring some of the most famous roles in literary history, TREASURE ISLAND promises to be the experience of a lifetime. Roles include those of Jim Hawkins, the adventurous teen who discovers Billy Bones’ treasure map and spurs this epic journey; Mrs. Hawkins, the witty owner of the Admiral Benbow; Squire Trelawney, the excitable landowner who finances the journey to Treasure Island; Israel Hands, the questionable second-in-command aboard the Hispaniola; Captain Smollett, the cool, collected, authoritative captain aboard the Hispaniola; Long John Silver, the one-legged sea cook and mutineer who is as charming as he is villainous; and a ragtag bunch of buccaneers. Performances are October 20-25. Two daytime performances will be held October 20.

Auditionees should familiarize themselves with the script, online under “OUR SEASON.” A password is required for access. This production will be cast with no regards to gender and will feature actors of all ages. It is suggested that the families of younger auditionees familiarize themselves with the novel and/or script before deciding to audition.

All auditionees will be asked to read from the script. Potential audition pages are posted on the QCT website. Detailed audition requirements and character descriptions are available at www.1qct.org.

TREASURE ISLAND is directed by Director of Student Theatre Kelsey Celek, with Cameron Walker as the assistant director, Logan Giesing as the stage manager, scenic design by Paul Denckla, costume design by Connie Phillips, properties design by Kent Slack, sound design by Cody Pezold, and fight choreography by Lenny Bart.
