Witness musical theatre history in the making! Quincy Community Theatre opens the Box Office January 4 for the world premiere of LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN: THE MUSICAL.

Over 30 local actors and actresses will give the first performance of this brilliant new musical as a staged reading in QCT’s experimental Lab Theatre. All performers will remain on stage the entire time and will read from their scripts. Additionally, the audience will hear certain stage directions read aloud in order to follow certain plot points.

LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN: THE MUSICAL, based on the original comedy by Oscar Wilde, transports audiences to 19th century London for Lady Windermere’s birthday. Having been informed by a nosy gossip that her husband is harboring a shocking secret, Lady Windermere begins to question her marriage. Although he fervently denies any wrongdoing, Lord Windermere invites his supposed lover to Lady Windermere’s birthday ball. But when Lady Windermere concocts an equally scandalous plan to leave the marriage, she unintentionally spurs a series of events that could leave them all in ruin. Overflowing with beautiful new melodies and Wilde’s signature wit, LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN: THE MUSICAL is an absolute must-see for Downton Abbey and musical theatre fans alike.

“What a thrill for our actors and our audiences to experience the birth of a new musical,” said Artistic Director Brandon Thomsen. “Our actors are embracing the opportunity to be the first performers to work on this new piece of theatre, and we hope our audiences will take hold of the opportunity to be the first audience anywhere to see this musical in the making.”

LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN: THE MUSICAL is directed by Artistic Director Brandon Thomsen, with music direction by Elizabeth Mannhardt. John Steinkamp serves as the stage manager.

Tickets are $9, on sale January 4. Performances are at 7:30 PM January 15-16. For tickets, to volunteer backstage, or to serve as an usher, visit 1qct.org or call the QCT Box Office, located in the Oakley-Lindsay Center, at (217) 222-3209.
