The magical bells of Christmas will be ringing at St. Louis Union Station with the return of The Polar Express experience for the 2020 Holiday season. Before you buy, you should know that the pandemic has caused some big changes this year. Unfortunately, the train won’t be chugging down the track. It’s called “a magical walk-thru journey.”

In normal times, the passengers board the train for a 45-minute ride that recreates the story of a boy’s search for the real meaning of Christmas. This year, decorated trains will remain stationary under the Union Station train shed for a walking tour. Guests will interact with the Polar Express characters and meet up with Santa and his elves.

Tickets start at $30. You can buy them by clicking here. Timed tickets are available if you’d like to reserve a specific slot. You can also combine the tickets to ride the St. Louis Wheel or visit the St. Louis Aquarium.

Also, dust off those Christmas PJ’s. Families are encouraged to wear their holiday pajamas, just like in the book and subsequent movie. They’ll also get hot chocolate, a cookie, and a bell for kids who believe.

Masks are required for children over age 9 and social distancing will be in place.
