Here it is the middle of July and what do I see in stores already? SCHOOL SUPPLIES. Am I the only person who thinks its a little too early for this? I mean summer just started...right??

I went to the store to buy pool chemicals and I was a little taken back at the sight of bookbags, notebooks, pens and pencils. I mean, I know school starts next month, but can we at least get through most of July without having to worry about buying supplies?

My daughter will be going into first grade this year, and on the last day of school (yes the last day of school) I had already received a supplies list for first grade. Last week I was looking over the list and noticed that I had to buy two boxes of 24-count crayons AND label each one. Not each box, mind you. EACH CRAYON! Seriously? if she loses them I'd rather just buy a new box. Whatever happened to sharing is caring?

I am not a teacher so I don't know the meaning of labeling each individual crayon. But it seems a little unnecessary in my opinion. I know I am not the only parent out there that feels this way.

Whether we like it or not, school supply buying is here, and some of us may have even started. I think I will wait a few more weeks and enjoy the rest of the summer before I start shopping for clothes, shoes, supplies, a bookbag...ugh, I'm gonna need another job. And this is my last year with only one kid in school. Next year when I have two? OH BOY!!
