I love our crossing guards. I mean, they have one of the hardest jobs and carry a lot of responsibility in getting our children to and from school safe and sound. Well, one of Quincy Public School's crossing guards has been nominated as one of the best in the country and he needs your help to get there.

Safe Kids Worldwide is holding a national contest to honor the best of the best of school crossing guards. QPS' own George Caspermeyer has been nominated for America's Favorite Crossing Guard. Caspermeyer currently works at Baldwin Elementary and has been a crossing guard for more than 20 years. He is known as Mr. George to the students and, with a smile on his face every single day, offers the kids encouragement and serves as their own personal cheerleader.

If George wins the contest, he will receive a $500 prize and the school will also win a nice chunk of change. The top three schools will receive $10,000, $7,500, and $5,000 respectively. If you would like to vote for George, you can by clicking here.

Thank you to Mr. George and all the crossing guards that get our children to school safe and sound.
