It's 1997 your at the local skating rink skating to the songs of that year. Hanson, Backstreet Boys, maybe N'SYNC. Those songs turn 20 this year, I am about to make myself (and maybe you too) feel old, or young again.

Backstreet Boys - Everybody (Backstreet's Back)---Released in June of 1997, this song, and album become one of the biggest hits for the group. All back together 20 years later you can see the Backstreet Boys at Planet Hollywood in Vegas starting in March.

Aqua - Barbie Girl---Probably one of the weirdest songs I have ever listened too, but it sure made for a great dance when I was in college (I played the little girl with a Barbie). Released in May 1997, off their album Aquarium, this was one of two songs that made the top of the charts in 1997. Their rise to stardom was short however,  the song become part of a huge lawsuit from Mattel (manufacturer of Barbie Dolls). Maybe that's why we haven't heard anything from Aqua since 1997.

Hanson - Mmmbop---Release in 1996, but didn't really make a statement until 1997, the 3-brothers became a huge success. There wasn't a little girl or  that didn't want to marry one of the brothers, me included. Today all three are married, with kids of their own, and still working in music. In fact, they were recently on ABC's Greatest Hit's show last year.

Mariah Carey - Butterfly---She may not be there Mariah Carey we remember, her New Year's Times Square performance was a disaster, she was and in my opinion still is one of the greatest singers for all time. This was her sixth studio album which drop late in 1997, and is in my top ten albums list of all time.

Chumbawamba - Tubthumping---This song was the bands most successful single that they release. It charted worldwide and even won the band a Brit Award in 1998. There have been several members for Chumbawamba throughout the years, but there are still releasing music with their latest release back in 2010.

*NSYNC - Tearin' Up My Heart---From their first album, this song introduced as to *NSYNC. During the boy band era between Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, and *NSYNC you could say that *NSYNC was bigger. (Sorry Backstreet Boy fans) Although the band did break up, each went on to have successful careers. But none of them has had a bigger career then Justin Timberlake. By the way, I still have my No Strings Attached album and dolls set (I wonder if they are worth anything).

No Doubt - Don't Speak---ONE OF MY FAVORITE BANDS OF ALL TIME!!!! It's hard to believe this song turns 20. I remember I wanted to be Gwen Stefani, my mom wouldn't let me dye my hair bleach blonde (sad face). I listened to Tragic Kingdom so many times I had to buy another copy because I worn the CD down. To this day I can sing ever word of that album.

Spice Girls - Spice Up Your Life---Scary, Posh, Baby, Ginger, and Sporty Spice. Who thought girls would choose names like these? But they weren't just names, they were personalities, and showed girls all over they world you can be anything sporty, scary, or even posh. I never understood the lyrics of this song, "If you want to be my lover, you gotta get with my friends," I am not sharing ladies, sorry!

Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On---The theme song to one of the biggest movies of all time, this song remained on the charts at number 1 for 10-straight weeks. When I saw the movie and the scene where Jack (spoiler alert) dies and there is plenty of room on the door for him to get on, everyone in the theater was crying, I was not. I guess I just knew her heart would go on.

This list could go on forever, but these are the ones that I thought would remind you of roller skating with your boyfriend holding hands, or screaming at the TV 'cause your favorite boy band was on. You can still listen to these songs every Thursday on Y101 for Throwback Thursdays.
