We've been doing Throwback Thursdays on Y101 for the past several weeks. It's been a fun way to play some music that we haven't had on the radio in years. Most of our listeners seem to dig it (throwback phrase!). If you're a fan of the Throwback Thursday music - which we refuse to call "oldies" - here's a concert coming to the state capital you might enjoy.

Boondocks in Springfield is hosting The Brat Pack on Saturday, April 11. The Brat Pack is described as a band that plays "almost totally 80s music, totally." The long description on their Facebook page uses the following words: gnarly, wicked, stoked, tubular, awesome, rad, bad to the bone, bodacious, phat, bomb, fresh, major, party o-rama, to the max, and word. You can get an idea of what they're all about.

We checked out The Brat Pack's Vimeo page and found several videos of retro songs, and a performance of Taylor Swift's "Shake it Off." That must be where the "almost" in "almost totally 80s music" comes in. Of course, that song was on the album 1989, so it sort of fits ... in a way.

If you want to check out The Brat Pack on April 11, tickets are only $5 and will be sold at the door. Boondocks is at 2909 N. Dirksen Parkway, Springfield, IL 62702. You can call them at 217-679-0145.

Boondocks is a bar, so you have to be 21 or older to attend a show there. We're thinking this probably isn't that big a deal in this case. Nobody under the age of 21 was around in the 80s!
