Remember when you were a kid and you were looking forward so much to some upcoming event and just couldn't wait for the day to get here?  Well that was the case for plenty of kids in the area last Saturday morning when the scheduled Big Dirt Dig was postponed due to bad weather.

Fear not young people of the area, it has been rescheduled for this Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center, 301 Warren Barrett Drive. The event is sponsored by Hannibal Parks & Recreation (HPR) and Parents as Teachers.

Hannibal Parks & Recreation staff members will provide a huge pile of dirt for youngsters to play in. Bleigh Ready Mix Company will also provide a pile of sand. Children are encouraged to bring shovels, buckets, trucks and digging toys and have a good 'ole time playing in the dirt and sand.

Ah, wouldn't be cool if we had the same kind of event for adults? Just saying!
