How many Quincy natives have become famous before they even graduate high school? Well, in this case, there are three: Savana Santos, Sami Bearden, and Sam Backoff (from left to right in our video); otherwise known as Avenue Beat.

Congratulations to the ladies of Avenue Beat, winners of the Nashville Universe Rising Star Award! These Quincy High students have been making trips to Nashville pretty frequently, and they're obviously making a good impression!

It was a pleasure this morning to have in our studio the girls from Avenue Beat.

Avenue Beat, a group of local musicians consisting of Savana Santos, Sam Backoff and Sami Bearden, will perform on April 5 as part of a benefit for Lena Thomas, a Quincy woman and mother of seven children, who is battling ovarian cancer.
