If your day hasn't been bizarre up until now, it's about to be because of what you're about to learn. If you've ever wondered why there has never been a channel 37 on your television, the reason is because of Illinois and aliens and I'm not making any of this up.

I've known this day was coming, but I've also known I would never be ready for it. I am so sad to pass along the news that Dennis Oliver, a Quincy, Illinois radio legend has passed.

He was a friend to so many on the radio for years in the tri-state area and now he could use your help. Friends and family of Quincy, Illinois radio legend Dennis Oliver are working to find a place where he can be cared for full-time.

The date was January 17, 1972. Richard Nixon was president. The number one song was American Pie. You could buy a gallon of gas for 38 cents. And, an 18 year old kid began living his dream of making his living on the radio.

Chuck Yates was either playing music on the air or making music playing the bass guitar in local bands.

I have been in the radio business now since 1976 and I've see many people come and many people go. We thought we'd get a pen and pad and start writing down as many radio people we could remember through the years. All this is just off the top of our heads, but let's see how many we can come up with.

People are always coming up to me and asking me "how's the radio business doing?". My response is always the same, doing great. Albeit, there are some months things are slower than others and then there are the other times when things are great. I also get asked if radio is fading away due to all of the competition.
