The Quincy area is blessed to have so many accomplished musicians, not only now but for many years before. Some 69 years ago, Carl Landrum came up with the idea to form the Quincy Park Band which is still going strong as it nears seven decades of performing for the community.

The Illinois Veterans Home Quincy and WGEM-TV announced that the 2014 Fourth of July fireworks celebration will once again be held on the Illinois Veterans Home grounds in 2014.  This is the third time in the past four years that the event has taken place there.

The rising Mississippi River has forced this year's Quincy Fourth of July Fireworks display to be moved from the riverfront to the Illinois Veterans Home this Thursday night. Other than the location thing should be going on as scheduled.
