This Friday will mark the beginning of the 2020 Free Fishing Days in Illinois. The great family event runs through this Monday, June 22.

This Saturday will mark the 20th anniversary of the very first Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge in Quincy.

Apparently, the duck is doing fine as I drove out to the park to see if he was still there and sure enough he was right by the edge of the water watching people fish and walk past him.

Please tell me something. What would prompt someone to fire a pellet gun at a friendly, innocent Duck?

This Saturday the Quincy Park District and Townsquare Media will hold their annual Fishing Rodeo at Moorman Lake in Quincy

So there I was on the last Free Fishing Day in Illinois at Moorman Lake in Quincy when it happened. The fish of all fish was hooked on my line. It became a battle I was not prepared for.

Take your pick this Saturday for the Polar Plunge event you want to attend. Perhaps you might want to do both? Quincy's Polar Plunge, in its 12th year, begins at 12:15 and Hannibal's Polar Plunge, in its 5th year, begins at 2 that afternoon. Both are fundraising events for Special Olympics.
