Last week Amtrak took advantage of the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse to promote their trains from Chicago to Quincy and Southern Illinois to view the spectacle. It was a good marketing tool for Amtrak to exploit.  Those who took Amtrak on the Carl Sandburg from the Windy City to Quincy were greeted by a shuttle vehicle which picked them up at no charge and transported them to the Quincy Riverfront for

The memory of 9-11 is fading for most people and that is unfortunate.  It is an event that we should never, ever forget. One way to keep that from happening is to remind people of what took place.  For people in Quincy and the surrounding area stopping by the 9-11 artifact located in the Quincy City Hall parking lot would go a long way to making sure we never forget the attack on the United States

It has become an annual tradition and it only started four years ago, but you will be hard pressed to find more fun than the Sunset Home Bed Races. This morning at 10am the Sunset Home will go crazy as the 4th Annual Bed races take place to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

One of former Mayor John Spring's desires was to have the Quincy Bayview Bridge illuminated at night. With a new administration in place for the city, I am not sure just where that plan stands.

The 2013 Election to decide the next Mayor for the City of Quincy is underway.  The polls opened this morning at 6 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m. Incumbent Democratic Mayor John Spring, looking for a third term as Mayor, is being challenged by Third Ward Republican councilman Kyle Moore.

It is a practice that has been done for years, but one that this writer thinks should cease. It is the practice of endorsing candidates in newspapers and on TV and Radio.

The election that will decide who will be leading the City of Quincy for the next four years is going on now. Democratic incumbent Mayor John Spring is running for a third term as mayor and is being challenged by Republican Kyle Moore.

The YP Quincy group will be hosting one of three Mayoral Debates on Wednesday, March 27 at O'Griff's in Quincy from 12 to 1:30pm.  Its an opportunity to hear from both candidates, Democratic Incumbent Mayor John Spring and Republican challenger Kyle Moore.

With the weather being the big news of the day little has been said about today being primary day in Quincy.  The primary always has a low voter turnout and it will be very low thanks to mother nature.  The polls will be open until 7 tonight

Well, it looks like round two is headed our way with the potential of a foot of snow being dumped on us. I thought the crews did a great job of removing the last snowfall and they are now gearing up for this next challenge.
