In Wednesday's Herald Whig there was a story printed with the headline of "Text Messaging Ahead for Pilots, Air Traffic Controllers".  Are you kidding? We can't text and drive, but soon we will be able to text and fly a commercial airline plane with me in it?

The Illinois Treasurer's office has what they call an I-Care Program where names of people are listed as owners of unclaimed property.  That property could be cash from old bank accounts, forgotten stocks, life insurance policies and other assets that are in need of return to their rightful owner.

The hard work and dedication of individuals and organizations to the arts community was honored in Arts Quincy’s annual George M. Irwin Arts Awards which was presented today (Friday) at the Quincy Exchange Club meeting. The group recognized outstanding work by an arts organization, individual teaching artist, volunteer, and business leadership.

The Quincy Park District is facing a dilemma. Where do they come up with the money needed to replace the Quinsippi Island Bridge. The bridge is in need of costly repairs or total replacement. A new bridge could cost as much as $5 million.

I read with interest a story in the August 9th Herald Whig about a Montana man who was found dead in Yellowstone National Park.  He was the victim of an apparent grizzly bear attack.  According to the National Park Service, tracks found at the scene and other evidence indicates a female grizzly bear and at least one cub were involved...

Lighting the Bayview Bridge has been talked about for decades, and it looks like it will happen this summer as part of the City of Quincy’s 175th Anniversary celebration. August 22 is the target date for the City of Quincy to light the Bayview Bridge from dusk to dawn.

Yet another shooting has occurred in Quincy with one man being taken to Blessing Hospital with an apparent gunshot wound. The Quincy Police Department has confirmed, according to a Herald-Whig report, that it is investigating a shooting near Eighth and York this morning.
