There are about 3,400 student in the Hannibal School District, and it would be safe to say that every one of them has lined the halls of their respective elementary, middle and high schools Thursday to let the Pirates know they are behind them 100 percent.
Even though their won-loss record is perfect, the road that has brought the Hannibal Pirates to the verge of winning their first Class 4 football state championship has been anything but sunshine and rainbows.
The storybook 2021 season for the Hannibal Pirates is not over yet. In the Missouri Class 4 state football semifinals Saturday, the Pirates won on the road, knocking off the North County Raiders 42-26 at Bonne Terre.

There are some outstanding High School wrestlers in our area. They are so outstanding that they are going to State competition in the Land of Lincoln as well as the Show Me State.
A few weeks ago we embarked on a hugely unscientific journey to find the absolute most beloved high school mascot in our area. For our purposes, “our area” included…literally anybody that stumbled upon the post. Anyway, more than 3,000 people joined in on the fun and cast more than 20,000 votes.
