The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, would have turned 83 today had he still been alive. He has been gone 41 years now.

It continues to amaze me just how many Elvis Presley fans continue to make the trek to Memphis, Tennessee on this day each year to honor the “King of Rock and Roll.”

The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, would have turned 82 tomorrow if he were still alive. He has been gone 40 years yet his army of fans still is quite strong and many will migrate to Elvis' home called "Graceland" today for his birthday anniversary.

It continues to amaze me just how many Elvis Presley fans continue to make the trek to Memphis, Tennessee on this day each year to honor the "King of Rock and Roll." Whether it amazes me or not, thousands will come to Graceland, Elvis' home, to hold a candlelight vigil on the 39th anniversary of Elvis' death.

I was looking over the listing of events for this date in history and I didn't realize how many events have taken place over the years on this date.  For instance, in 1961 ABC"s "Wide World of Sports TV anthology premiered.
