Christmas hats-off to the Hannibal Jaycees for what they do for the Hannibal community!

Toys for Tots program local coordinator Steve Lindsey and Marine Corp Sgt. Jonathan Schulte were recent guests of the Quincy Exchange Club.  According to Mr. Lindsey, a retired USMC veteran, the Toys for Tots program got its start in Los Angeles in 1947 when a Marine Corps Major’s wife made a Raggedy Ann Doll and she asked her husband to give it to someone but there wasn’t anyone to give it to. The Douglas Community Services-Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will be holding a cookout Saturday at the County Market Store in Palmyra.

The Hannibal Jaycees will hold their annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1st.  The theme this year is “O, Christmas Tree.”  This year’s toy collection will benefit the Douglass Community Center’s Adopt-A-Family Program, with help from Toys for Tots & Dollar General.
