This year's 8th Annual Veteran's Day Parade will be held in Quincy on Saturday, November 7 at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at 12th and Maine and proceed to 5th and Maine Streets.
This year's 2014 Veteran's Day Parade in Quincy will be held on Saturday, November 8. The Veteran's Parade Committee, led by Chairman Dick McKinney, works all year long on organizing this wonderful event. One of the toughest things to secure for an event like this is a "flyover" of a military aircraft.
It was back in 2008 when Dick McKinney asked me if I would come to a meeting to help revive the Veteran's Day Parade in Quincy. It had been some 35 years since Quincy held a Veteran's Day Parade and Dick was hoping I would be able to share some contacts and information from the St. Patrick's Parade with him. I was more than happy to assist.
It is hard to believe but this Saturday the 6th Annual Veteran's Parade will be held in Quincy with nearly 80 entries ready to go down Maine Street beginning at 10am. I remember meeting with the parade chairmen Jim Ponsot and Dick McKinney five years ago to discuss putting on the first parade. We had no idea how many entries we would have but to see it nearing 80 this year is fabulous.
Entries are being sought for the 6th Annual Veteran's Parade which will be held in Quincy on Saturday November 9. The parade, after a 35 year absence, started up again in 2008 and has been going strong ever since thanks to the Co-Chairmen Dick McKinney and Jim Ponsot. To put on a Veteran's Parade is one thing but to get a B-25 Bomber fly over during the parade is another.
Hats off to Jim Ponsot and Dick McKinney, the parade chairmen, and their parade committee for pulling this off.
It's Veteran's Day weekend and there are plenty of activities planned in the area including the 5th Annual Veteran's Day Parade tomorrow in Quincy.
Last year there were 92 entries and this year the total is 93. The parade goes from 12th to 5th on Maine and begins at 10am.
