Today marks the 34th anniversary that 99Q hit the airwaves of the Hannibal-Quincy area as WQCY-FM changed its format from “Easy Listening” to “Top 40″ .
After over a year of being off of local television, long time TV personality and meteorologist Rich Cain is returning to the television airwaves with KHQA-TV.
It is the number one question being asked around Quincy. What is Rich Cain going to be doing? I probably have been asked it 20 times alone and I do have an answer.
April 25 is a very special day for me and four other people. It was 29 years ago today that 99Q hit the airwaves of the Hannibal-Quincy area. On April 25, 1985 at 5:30 a.m., WQCY-FM changed its format, as well as my life. The format went from “Easy Listening” to “Top 40″ and with it a legacy began.
It was a morning in 1986 when I was working at 99Q Radio with Dennis Oliver. He was just finishing up his morning show and I was beginning my mid-day stint (after working the morning show on WTAD earlier that morning). It was about a week before St. Patrick's Day and I went up to D.O. and said we need to have a St. Patrick's Day Parade in Quincy.
