It was 134 years ago when a young man by the name of Frank Winfield Woolworth opened a five-and-dime store in Utica, New York. It was the first store to arrange items according to price.

From it's Utica, New York start Woolworth's grew to over 4000 stores in the United States and 500 in Britain. One of those stores was located right here in Quincy. I can remember going to Woolworth’s for lunch or a mid afternoon milk shake. They had the fountain area in the store which was popular with a lot of people.

It was a sad day when they announced they were closing that store. Do you remember where it was located? Got any memories of being there?
