Stuff Curry’s Greatest Hits
On Sunday night, at the hot hand of Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, unanimous MVP Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors were unable to cap their historic season with a second consecutive NBA Championship.
But we're not here to talk about that. We're here to look at internet babies! Yay!
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months, you've probably heard of Quincy's most famous pint-sized resident, Landon "Stuff Curry" Lee. Stuff rose to internet fame--and got his cool nickname--earlier this year due to his adorableness and his uncanny resemblance to the famed basketball star.
And the similarities don't end there. Steph and Stuff even had the same number of points in the final seven minutes of Game 7 (I know, weird right?)
A quick Google search will turn up just over 54,500 mentions of "Stuff Curry" (one more once this piece goes live), and quite frankly I don't have time to go through them all. Instead, let's take a quick look back at some of Stuff's highlights from the season...
Landon's mother says she started the Instagram account as to avoid crowding her friends' timelines with pictures of Landon.
One of Landon's Instagram photos went viral when the popular Facebook page "50 Shades of Black" posted it. Shortly thereafter, a popular college football player found the photo and asked his fans to give him a nickname. And that's how "Landon Lee" became "Stuff Curry".
Landon's first appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live came live via satellite and was dependent on the randomness of a bingo cage. And unfortunately, a bad internet connection would end Landon's segment abruptly. But don't worry. He'll be back.
With Steph Curry just days away from claiming his second consecutive MVP award, Darren Rovell of ESPN did a special feature on Stuff Curry. By this time, Stuff had collected over 24,000 Instagram followers.
Now a full fledged internet celebrity, Landon made his way out to Los Angeles to film a few sketches with Jimmy Kimmel (and a baby Lebron lookalike). The various sketches aired in conjunction with the NBA Finals.
It was around this point that Kimmel started teasing Landon's appearances on the show on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #stuffcurry.
"The bouncer at that bar has to do a much better job of carding people." -Jimmy Kimmel
It was only a matter of time before he became "Stuff Curry: Pitchman".
