It is never good when a family has to go hungry, especially when kids are involved.

That is why the Palmyra U.S. Post office is collecting items for the local food pantry. The drive will be Saturday, May 9. Residents are asked to leave non-perishable food donations in a bag by their mailbox before noon that day. Postal workers will pick up the food drive items in Palmyra. Saturday will mark the 23rd anniversary of the nation's largest single day of giving. Last year over 72 million pounds of food was collected by postal carriers nationally, helping to feed an estimated 30 million people, many who live on fixed incomes.
