To celebrate the 35th year of Bucket Blitz, The Salvation Army Quincy Area Command will hold Bucket Blitz days in towns located throughout the counties the organization serves.  The Salvation Army provides a variety of programs and services to assist families in need in the counties of Adams, Brown, and Pike in Illinois and the counties of Marion, Ralls, Lewis, Monroe, and Shelby in Missouri.

The location and date for each Bucket Blitz are as follows:

Wednesday, Dec. 4- Shelbina, Mo.                                                                          Located at the intersection of Highway 15 and Bus. 36 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.                                                                                                                                          Thursday, Dec. 5- Pittsfield, Il.                                                                                    Located at the intersection of Memorial and Jefferson from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.                                                                                                                                                  Friday, Dec. 6 in Mt. Sterling, Il.                                                                                  Located at the intersection of Main (Hwy 24) and Capitol from 10 a.m. to 3:30.p.m.                                                                                                                                       Saturday, Dec. 7 in Palmyra, Mo.                                                                            Located at the intersection of Main and Ross from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All proceeds from The Salvation Army Tree of Lights Christmas Campaign provide a variety of programs and services to assist families in need. Following are a few examples of ways The Salvation Army has given a hand up to our neighbors in need.

The Salvation Army Quincy Area Command provided the following assistance to its entire service area during 2018:

5,210 nights of lodging at the Emergency Shelter

19,819 meals were provided to shelter residents

16,209 people were served by the daily bread line

3,060 food boxes were distributed

Last Christmas:

1,500 families received Christmas food baskets

7,811 children received toys for Christmas

962 individuals were provided dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas

Volunteers are an important part of the Christmas season and are needed to assist with each Bucket Blitz. Volunteers must be over 18 years or older to assist with a Bucket Blitz. To volunteer to participate at one of these locations, please contact Matt Schmidt at 217-231-5694.
