In celebration of their 100th Anniversary, the Downtown Rotary Club of Quincy will hold a ribbon cutting of the Rotary Centennial Walkway on Today, August 4th at 1:00 pm.  The walkway is located on the southern edge of Friars Field near 20th and College on the Quincy University Main Campus.

The club will present the final installment of a $50,000 donation to Quincy University for the completion of the walkway during the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Rotary Centennial Walkway is open to the public and will provide a scenic area for QU students and community members to relax and enjoy the campus.  The area includes outdoor exercise equipment and benches.  Several Rotary Club members helped to lay mulch and plant flowers and shrubs for the project.

The Downtown Rotary Club, chartered in 1915, and their foundation are currently running a Centennial Campaign to raise $158,000 through member donations and fundraisers such as Oktoberfest.  Funds from the campaign are being used to support two projects in the community including the Centennial Walkway at QU.

The other project is helping to fund a section of Klingner Trail along the Cedar Creek Corridor. More information can be found at www.quincyrotary.org.
