One week from Friday (August 16) Keokuk's Rollin' on the River Blues Festival will take place at Victory Park. The festival always features great blues acts but did you know that they also hold workshops for people 15 and older on Saturday, August 17?

A fun time for young folks begins in Victory Park at 1 p.m. on Saturday August 17, with an Acrylic Painting Workshop.  The canvas and paint is sponsored by Saenger Halle of Warsaw, Illinois and is taught by Molly Hurley.

If you ever wanted to learn how to play the harmonica then make sure you are there at 2 p.m. That's when the ever popular Harmonica Workshop will be presented by long time musician Carson Gay of Quincy.

From 3 to 3:45 the energetic Percussion Blast will be taught by talented musician and instructor, Brandon Rainbolt of Tri-State School of Music and Rainbolt Ductless Heating and Air of Kahoka, Missouri.

Participants must be 15 years old or younger and workshops are limited to the first 25 participants or so.  The newly minted artists will get to keep their art, harmonicas & drumsticks.  All of these activities are made possible by the Keokuk Community Fine Arts Council and the talented instructors mentioned above.

Besides the workshops will be face painting by the Hamilton, Illinois High School Cheerleaders, plus an adult Bags Tournament will be held beginning at 1:30 p.m. with a 100% payout. Contact Kyle “The Bag Man” at 319-520-0423 for more information on this event .

As always the Rollin' on The River Committee asks that all attendees to bring non-perishable food items & toiletries for the less fortunate in the area.
