Former St. Louis Cardinal and Quincy University alumnus Josh Kinney has been selected to participate in the STL Legends Game at CarShield Field on August 11 in O'Fallon, Missouri. Additional Cardinals alumni include fellow 2006 World Series Champions David Eckstein, Mark Mulder, Scott Speizio, and Aaron Miles, as well as fan favorites Vince Coleman, Donovan Osborne, and Kyle McClellan.

Kinney, now 39, pitched for the QU Hawks from 1998 to 2001 where he amassed 22 wins (tied for third all time). He remains the all time leader in innings pitched with 291.1. Undrafted after college, he pitched for the River City Rascals briefly before being signed by the Cardinals in 2001. He made his major league debut in 2005 and pitched for the Cardinals off and on until 2009—including a valuable relief roles during their 2006 championship run. He also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners before retiring following the 2014 season.

Unlike his last stretch at CarShield as a member of the River City Rascals, Kinney will be dialing it back a bit as the STL Legends game will be a slow pitch softball exhibition. The game begins at 7:00 and doors open an hour prior to first pitch. Tickets are just $20 each, but autograph seekers can purchase a $60 ticket which includes a two-hour on-field autograph session from 4:00 to 6:00 pm (only 600 autograph tickets are available).
