It's seems like forever ago since we last were able to sit and enjoy a live concert. Well Quincy Symphony Orchestra is back for in-person concerts for 2021.

The first concert is being called "New Beginnings" and will kick off on April 17 with a concert held at the Morrison Theater in Quincy Junior High. In a press release sent out today,

The concert opens with Haydn’s joyful “Symphony No. 6 (subtitled “The morning”) which uses individual instruments of the ensemble in an almost concerto-like fashion. Listeners will hear solos by the flute, violin, cello, bassoon, and double bass. Haydn’s original ensemble included only 10-15 musicians, so this context fits well with the QSO’s restricted forces this pandemic year.

This concert will be a full-scale production, with both musicians and audience member being socially distance in the theatre. Face coverings will be required while watching the concert. I think we are all ready to sit back, relax, and enjoy every single genre of music that we can see live and not through a computer screen. I am hopefully that this will not be the last in-person concert series we will get in the Tri-State Area.

Advance tickets for the "New Beginnings" concert are highly requested to help the QSO staff with planning. Tickets are $15 for seniors (62 and older), $18 for adults, and free to children. Buy at QSOA.org, at the QSOA office at 1026 Maine St., or by calling 217-222-2856.
