Quincy Preserves and The District are hosting a workshop to inform and educate building owners in The District on the Facade Program.  The workshop will be held April 20 at 7 p.m. in The District headquarters at 128 North 5th Street in Quincy. The workshop is free but reservations are requested so that there are enough materials for everyone.

Buildings located within the area bounded by Front Street, 12th Street, Broadway and State Street and are of architectural or historic significance and constructed between 1880 and 1940 qualify for the program.   The grant/loan program is for exterior work to the front or facade of the building.

Among the items eligible for funding are, window/door repair or appropriate replacement work, storefront rehabilitation, cleaning or painting of exterior surfaces, repair and restoration of architectural detailing, awnings, signs, along with a few other items.  Preference is given to projects involving full facade restorations, rather than story by story renovations.

Applicants must meet one of the following ownership criteria; they must own the property or be the purchaser of the property and be able to provide supporting paperwork.

Those wishing to make reservations are asked to call 217-257-9909 before April 19.
