The Quincy Gems Baseball season is officially delayed, here is what you need to know...

With Illinois under "Stay at Home" order through the month of May due to Coronavirus it should come as no shock that the Quincy Gems season wont be starting on time. The Quincy Gems were supposed to open their 2020 season Thursday, May 28th, but that date has officially been pushed back to July 1st.

They announced today on their Facebook page that it is the whole of the Prospect League that is being delayed, and that the actual schedule and start dates will be determined by the guidelines laid down by the states that the teams reside in. They also said that a revised schedule should be available soon, to read the full statement click here!

I can't say I'm surprised by this move, health and safety has to be the number one priority for all sports leagues during this COVID-19 crisis. It still makes me sad however, drinking beers at Gems games is one of my favorite things to do in the Tri-States, hopefully we will be able to do that in July.
