For a town this size, Quincy has some remarkably talented actors and musicians. That is a credit to the great music and theatre programs at Quincy Senior High and Quincy Notre Dame High schools. The Quincy Community Theatre reaps the rewards of such preparation with outstanding talent moving onto the Q.C.T. stage.  Every once in a while a talent comes from out of the blue to command notice as well.  With all that talent in mind, the theatre community will come together to honor those involved with the annual QUILTA Awards Ceremony (QUILTA stands for Quincy Little Theatre Awards).

That event will be held this Saturday at ONE Special Event location at 6th and Hampshire in Quincy.  The doors will open Saturday at 6 p.m.  This formal event will feature a dinner, the awards ceremony, music and dancing. The cost to attend is $25 for adults and $20 for children younger than 18.

The QUILTA award is awarded to selected volunteers who are deserving. Awards for Best Performance, The Director's Award, Technical Director's Award, The Burning Flame Award for effort in a student theatre production, and The Rosie Award for dedication to the student theatre program will be presented. The night will culminate with the presentation of the highest award of the evening in the Enid Ireland Award.

The event is sponsored by Continental Cement and Green America Recycling.  For more information, call (217) 222-3209.
