I am not the best picker in the world. Frankly, I am pretty bad. For the most part I use
my gut in determining my picks, and so far my gut has not done me well. Before yesterday’s games I was at just under 50%. I probably could do better by posting pictures of the teams on my office wall and throwing darts.

Tonight the Chicago Bears play the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Most everyone is aware of the fact that Chicago is home to me. So when I see a match up like this, where the Bears are playing at Lambeau field, with a backup Quarterback, on a Monday night – it doesn’t look good for the Bears. Even the experts at ESPN (except for Keyshawn Johnson) are picking the Packers to win at home tonight.

So why, in my right mind, am I picking the Bears in the Pro Football Pick’em Challenge?

Wishful thinking?

Hometown pride?

How many beers have I had?

Every time I get involved with this kind of game, people tell me not to let my emotions get the best of me when making my picks. Sorry, I can’t help it. Besides – I would rather pick the Bears and lose than pick the Packers, lose, and have to live with the shame of not believing in the Monsters of the Midway.

7:30 tonight I will be parked in front of my TV with a cold beer in hand rooting on my favorite team – knowing who is favored, but hoping for the best.

Go BEARS!
