How cold is it? It's so cold, The Green Bay Wisconsin Police Department has officially banned all criminal activity. You read that right. According to the department's Facebook page, crime is banned until further notice.

"With the wind chill warnings, we simply cannot have any criminals putting themselves in harm's way at those temperatures," said Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith. "If we didn't speak out against this, it is simply not fair to the criminals, and I am not willing to risk it."

It doesn't much matter if the police chief isn't willing to risk the cold. Criminals might still do what criminals do, no matter the weather. And if they do, Smith says don't worry, the police department will be there to handle it. But they don't have to be happy about it.

It's not like the Green Bay Police Department will lift the ban on crime and tell criminals to go about their business when the weather warms up. As the chief points out, "Avoiding crime and criminal activities are especially important during periods of inclement weather. Also, during other times."\

Some of the comments on the Green Bay Police Department Facebook page are hilarious! Here's a sampling:

"Oh thank goodness. You know my crime boss wasn’t willing to let me take the day off."

"From a misguided miscreant: thank you very much Chief Andrew Smith for putting a moratorium on crime for these next few days. As you know we get no sick days, pto's or vacation days in our line of work."

"Can I use this as a kind of Doctors excuse? Cuz the guys in my crime spree gang have been calling me a weather wimp and other such hurtful names. They can be so cruel."

"Taking the command, "Freeze!" to a whole new level."

"From a man that was about to go out and rob a bank thank you for saving me.. I'll see you later."
