Payless ShoeSource is launching an international children’s shoe-giving program, Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids, and has announced its selected charity partners including Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Illinois.

The program, implemented in all 50 states, Canada, Puerto Rico and 11 Latin American countries – will give $1.5 million of free shoes to children of families in need.

A group of children served by Big Brothers-Big Sisters of West Central Illinois will participate in a shoe-shopping trip at the Payless ShoeSource store in the Quincy Mall on Monday, January 21st from 10 am to 12 noon. The children will get to select their own pair of free new shoes.

For many kids accustomed to used and hand-me-down shoes, this will be their first pair of new shoes. When you hear something like that it makes you appreciate more than ever just what you had as a kid.
