Why this Simple Missouri Intersection is America’s Most Dangerous

I have likely driven past this innocent-looking Missouri intersection not knowing that it's statistically one of the most dangerous in America.

I have verified this information is accurate from multiple sources, but still don't understand how this simple Missouri intersection is ranked among the most dangerous not just in Missouri, but also across the nation.

I found this interesting note on The Fang Law Firm website. It simply ranks the most dangerous intersections in America and #7 is this one in Missouri. Look dangerous to you?

This is North Grand Boulevard and Montgomery Street in St. Louis, Missouri. When I think of dangerous intersections, I imagine two highly-traveled roads that cross where one driver running a light or not allowing the right-of-way ends up in a serious collision. That's not the case for this small intersection, yet it ranks as the seventh most dangerous in America.

I have confirmed this from Business Insider also.

I can confirm that Grand Avenue in St. Louis is one of the most traveled non-interstates in the city. I had no clue that the most fatal collisions happen where it meets Montgomery Street. This just proves the point that you can't judge a book by its cover. The fact that this side street looks so unimportant could be why it's so dangerous. Perhaps the line of sight isn't great when trying to turn onto Grand? I'm just guessing at this point.
