I understand why so many people think they need to move to Florida, but I'm shocked that so many in Missouri actually did it. The numbers show more than 10,000 in just one year chose to depart Missouri and head to the Sunshine State which begs the question why.

24/7 Wall St ranked how many people from each state moved to Florida in the most recent full year count which I believe was 2022 as 2023 numbers are still preliminary. For Missouri, the number of movers heading to Florida is staggering: 10,919.

Why are so many Missouri people moving to Florida?

Moving to Florida Guide (you'd think they'd know) listed many reasons to relocate there including great year-round weather which I will not argue. They also claim the cost of real estate is "reasonably priced" which is debatable.

It appears that most people leaving Missouri choose Florida because of the ample available jobs there and for a more leisurely (and sunny) lifestyle.

Why Missouri people should think twice about moving to Florida

Finance Buzz has some reasons to rethink Florida decisions saying that it's "full of people" and "there is a lot of traffic". Also on the negative side of the equation is rising home prices, dangerous animals and hurricanes. Did you know that you can get hit in the head by a frozen iguana in Florida? There's also that small issue of hurricanes filled with mad gators. That's really a thing in Florida.

Yes, more than 10,000 left Missouri for Florida and I wish them well. Now, let's see how many pack up the moving truck and return after the next gator hurricane.
