Moran, who has previously appeared on Antiques Roadshow on PBS and is the author of more than 25 books on antiques, will be at the library from 10 am to 1 pm that Wednesday.

The registration period  is now open for those who would like to bring an item to be appraised.  Registrations are required in advance and space and time are limited. Individuals may register up to two items for appraisal.  One item will be appraised at no charge for current Q.P.L. cardholders.  The fee to appraise a second item is $15.  Those who do not hold a Q.P.L. card will be assessed a $15 fee for each item appraised (limit two).

Moran specializes in vintage folk art, Americana, and fine art. This will be his third year of visiting the Quincy Public Library to do appraisals. Moran, who has purchased and sold antiques for more than 30 years, cautions that opinions of value are informal and may not be used for insurance or charitable donations.

Not only can you bring an item to be valued but you can also by watch the live appraisals as well. The live appraisal items are presented, researched, described and appraised.  Reservations are not needed to watch the appraisal and all are welcome.

Moran is also available to make home visits for people with large or fragile items or large quantities of items. House calls are $75 per hour, with no mileage charge if within 10 miles of QPL.  Appointments for house calls should be made directly with Mr. Moran at 715-281-5060 or by email at moranm1953@gmail.com.
