October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of that, the lights at the Mark Twain Memorial Lighthouse are shining pink to support the cause.

Hannibal Parks & Recreation installed the pink lights this week. Hannibal Regional Healthcare System representatives are installing signs along the steps today, Monday, Oct. 3. Each sign will offer a different statistic or statement about breast cancer.

Andy Dorian, director of Hannibal Parks & Recreation, said, “Hopefully this brings light to the importance of early detection for breast cancer. We hope to trigger a reminder for women in our community to get regular mammograms because early detection saves lives.”

More information about the H.R.H.S. signs is available by calling Patrick Keyser, Marketing Coordinator of Hannibal Regional Healthcare System, at 816-719-0723.
