Kim Ahrens Named Volunteer of The Year
Volunteers are the heart and soul of any non-profit organization. This week, Hannibal Regional Auxiliary honored a volunteer who has given more than 2,200 hours of service to the organization. Kim Ahrens was named the Auxiliary's Volunteer of the Year at a recent ceremony.
Kim, pictured with Todd Ahrens, President and CEO of Hannibal Regional and Alicia Rollins, Director of Volunteer Services (far right), has been on the Board of Directors for four years. She volunteers her time in a variety of areas including the hospital reception desk, in Judy’s Boutique, in waiting rooms and at the Caring Cup. Kim also serves as chairperson of the Recruitment and Retention committee. One of the projects she enjoys the most is being part of Project Community Connect and helping to distribute hygiene bags and birthday kits.
Other presentations during the annual Service Awards Luncheon included Honorary Memberships which were given to Jim Mitchell, Marvin Bringer, Joan Thompson, Patty Scott and Mary Jane Wilgus. Special Recognitions were presented to Karen Sutor, Robert Bixler, Linda Lake, June Ann Piper, Gwen Wilgus and Debra Burditt. Hannibal Regional Auxiliary also presented an Outstanding New Member award to Shirley Jackson.
Nancy Cruse earned the President's Call to Service Award.. Nancy has been part of Hannibal Regional Auxiliary for 19 years and has served in a variety of roles. Nancy also represents Hannibal Regional Auxiliary at the state level by serving on the board for the Missouri Association for Hospital Auxiliaries.
The Hannibal Regional Auxiliary was formed in 1993 to help patients, families and visitors in a variety of ways and contribute to the community. Today, with more than 260 members, the Auxiliary donates approximately 25,000 hours of service each year. The Auxiliary provides service in several areas including Judy’s Boutique, James E. Cary Cancer Center, Hannibal Children’s Center, reception desk, waiting rooms and more.
