The date for the annual Open Range Program has been announced by The Illinois State Police.

It is offered in an effort to promote hunting safety by giving hunters access to the Illinois State Police ranges for the purpose of sighting in their guns. Hunters and observes can visit ISP Ranges beginning on November 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shotguns will be checked in a controlled environment with firearms experts present to ensure the safe and appropriate use of the shotgun. The Open Range Program is a collaborative effort organized annually by the Illinois State Police and the Department of Natural Resources.
