Students from 42 Illinois high schools will go for a State Championship in March. But if you are thinking basketball or wrestling you would be wrong. This competition is won in the court room.

The students will assume the roles of attorneys and witnesses as they try both sides of a hypothetical case in mock trial. It is the 33rd annual Illinois State Bar Association High School Mock Invitational on March 14 and 15 at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign. The top eight teams will compete in the final round on March 15 for the state championship. A panel of Illinois lawyers and judges will rate the students' performances. One of those participating students is from Pittsfield High School.

The High School Mock Trial Invitational has been conducted each year since 1962.
