The Quincy Police Department does an amazing job keeping us safe day in and day out, and I absolutely love seeing them give back to the community--even more so than they already do--through initiatives like this.

This Friday, September 14, Quincy Police Officers will be at Maya Mexican Restaurant for the annual Cops and Nachos event from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The local boys in blue will be bussing tables, refilling drinks, and visiting with members of the community in exchange for "tips". And all money raised throughout the evening will be donated to Special Olympics Illinois in support of athletes in our area.
So if you don't already have plans, swing by Maya on Friday evening and tip generously. And keep in mind that it's all in good fun, so go easy on your one-night only waitstaff.
This is one of many events in which the Quincy Police Department partake to benefit Special Olympics and it just happens to be one of my favorites (though the Maya margaritas do have a lot to do with that).
