Why not make the year 2020 the year that you sign up for the organ tissue donor registry in the State of Illinois. After years of thought, I finally signed up last year. Currently there are more than 6.7 million people registered in Illinois, but sadly there are approximately 4,700 people in the state in need of life-saving organ transplants and about 300 people will die each year waiting for one. One person's gift can I prove the quality of life of up to 25 people.

In January of 2018 a law went into effect allowing 16 and 17 year olds to participate in this meaningful program when they receive their driver's license or state identification card. Since then yearly 70,000 young people have joined the registry.

Perhaps the year 2020 will be the year that you, your friends and family become part of the donor registry. It's a simple project process. Just register at the Quincy State Driver's License facility on Locust Street during normal business hours or call +1-802-102-1006. You can also visit www.LifeGoesOn.com.
