Each year I am amazed at the amount of money that is spent on Halloween. It seems like more and more adults are embracing this annual event than ever before. As that happens spending for the event continues to climb. According to the personal finance website WalletHub, the numbers are in the billions with an expected $9 billion being spent during this Halloween.

Some other numbers according to WalletHub include costume spending is expected to be around $3.2 billion and Halloween candy spending is expected to be around $2.6 billion. Other statistics include, thirty-six percent of parents believe 12 or 13 year olds are old enough to trick-or-treat alone.

$300 million will be generated for Haunted House ticket sales of which 80% will be operated by charities. One of the more interesting statistics involved parents of trick-or-treaters.

If you are a parent who admits to stealing candy from their kids you are in the majority.  Again according to WalletHub 72% of parents are "candy-stealers" so kids, remember to protect your candy!
