The Mark Twain Cave will once again host the Harvest Hootenanny, featuring three days of food, entertainment, arts & crafts, and family activities.

The Harvest Hootenanny will take place October 10 - 12 at the Mark Twain Cave complex on Highway 79 south of Hannibal. This year's event will fund Rotary Club of Hannibal projects.

Friday, October 10

Bi-State Brew-Off MO/IL Home Brew Competition , hosted by Hannibal Area Homebrewers’ Association. The HAHA Brew Club is facing off against the Prairie Schooners Brew Club from Springfield, in a fall home brew classic where attendees can taste homebrews from across the region. There will be beer samples available from around the globe and prizes awarded for top vote-getters. Friday night Hootenanny attendees will sample each of the beer offerings from the home brewers competing and cast their vote for a “People’s Choice” favorite! Tickets for the home brew sampling are just $10 and include a souvenir commemorative tasting glass. A group of craft brewers and beer experts from top area craft breweries will also judge all entries. Winners will be announced immediately following the competition. Prizes will be awarded for Favorite and Judges’ Choice, and include medals and gift certificates.

Homebrewers interested in entering the competition should contact the contest organizer by October 1 to reserve a spot. There is no entry fee, just bring keg or bottles with at least 2.5 gallons of each beer entered in the contest. Each entrant will be expected to pour their own beers for the competition. Budweiser Brewmaster Tour will be a new exhibit to the Hootenanny this year and mobile brewery tours will be given from 5pm-11pm on Friday, October 10th, and from 3pm-9pm on Saturday, October 11th. This is a free exhibit for guests 21 year of age and over.

Friday musical guests are Mike Moore, Seth Wade, Murray McFarlane, and The Flood Brothers.

10am Tour-de-Hannib-Ale City Bike Ride (17 mile bike course, led by O’Fallon Brewery brewmaster, Brian Owens. Cost is $30 and includes souvenir t-shirt, O’Fallon growler, and certificate of completion, pre-registration recommended, 21 and over)

10am Full Moon Farms Petting Zoo & Pony Rides (free exhibit until 4pm) Unique variety of farm and exotic animals

11am Local “Best Of” Restaurants Soup Tasting The 2014 “Best Of” Soup Tasting gathers some of the area’s best restaurants in one arena to sip, slurp, and sample some of the finest soups we have to offer. Public vote for the “People’s Choice” Winner. Local area restaurants and non-profits are encouraged to enter to win prizes and awards. Cost for the public is $7 adult, $5 for seniors

1pm Grape Stomp at Cave Hollow West Winery (includes complimentary wine tastings)

3pm Pumpkin Carving Contest Big prizes will be awarded for 1st-3rd prizes in both adult and youth (15 and under) categories. Pumpkins will be carved prior to arriving at the Hootenanny Harvest Festival. Entrants may enter their pumpkin throughout the day on Saturday, October 11, and winners will be announced at 3pm, as judged by the Hannibal Arts Council. Pumpkins must be caved prior to arrival.
